Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Satellite

Satellite won the last time they faced West Shore and things went their way on Monday too. The Satellite Scorpions enjoyed a cozy 48-34 win over the West Shore Wildcats. The Scorpions pushed the score to 42-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats cut but never quite recovered from.

Satellite's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Halyn Hargis led the charge by putting up 20 points. Another player making a difference was Leigh Hertel, who posted 11 points.

Despite the loss, West Shore saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kaelani Luther earned 18 points. That was a full 52.9% of West Shore's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Tiffany Duong was another key player, posting no points along with five boards and four steals.

The victory (which was Satellite's third in a row) raised their record to 10-9. As for West Shore, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-10.

Satellite didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-37 win against Edgewood on the 28th. As for West Shore, they will challenge Titusville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Shore is facing Titusville at the right time seeing as Titusville is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
