Softball Recap: Piner Comes Up Short

Piner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Berean Christian Eagles. That's two games in a row now that the Prospectors have lost by exactly three runs.

Piner's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Berean Christian, the win was the seventh in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Piner will take on Petaluma at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Petaluma's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Piner's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Berean Christian, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-5 defeat against Fortuna on the 15th.
