Football Recap: Monroe Takes a Loss

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three matchups, Monroe finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were dealt a 39-7 defeat at the hands of the Evansville Blue Devils. While losing is never fun, the Cheesemakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin football rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 71st).

Monroe's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Evansville, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Monroe will head out to challenge East Troy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cheesemakers will be up against the Trojans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.13 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Evansville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Whitewater at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils are facing the Whippets at the right time seeing as the Whippets are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
