Softball Recap: Melanie Bigham and Izabel Mehta Secure Win for Walled Lake Central

While Walled Lake Central didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Groves Falcons on Friday by a score of 9-6 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Katelynn Cole made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up six earned runs off six hits. Cole was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Walled Lake Central let Izabel Mehta and Melanie Bigham run wild. Mehta went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Bigham went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Bella Spellman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Walled Lake Central's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Groves, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Coming up, Walled Lake Central will challenge Seaholm/Groves at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Groves will be paying especially close attention to the Vikings' match: after the Vikings face off against the Maples, they'll take on Groves again at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
