Basketball Recap: Mount Calvary Christian Academy Gets the Win

If Ahoskie Christian wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Mount Calvary Christian Academy, they should've done a better job of containing Riley Tuten. The Warriors came out on top in a nail-biter against Ahoskie Christian on Friday, sneaking past 38-35 with plenty of help from Tuten, who made all 12 shots she took to post 25 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Mount Calvary Christian Academy's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Shirley, who posted six points and five rebounds. She also posted two assists, marking her first of the season.

Despite the defeat, Ahoskie Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore McKenzie Tiffany Kirkland shot 58% from the field en route to 16 points. Those 58% shooting accuracy set a new season-high mark for Kirkland. Kinsley Dunlow was another key player, putting up four points and 11 boards.
