Softball Game Preview: Ida Baker Bulldogs vs. North Fort Myers Red Knights

Ida Baker hasn't had much luck against North Fort Myers recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Ida Baker Bulldogs will take on the North Fort Myers Red Knights at 7:00 p.m. Ida Baker has given up an average of 11.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

On Monday, Ida Baker came up short against Palmetto Ridge and fell 13-9.

Meanwhile, North Fort Myers is still undefeated this season after their match against Fort Myers on Monday, but Fort Myers came as close as anyone has to beating them. North Fort Myers came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against Fort Myers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Red Knights have posted since April 26, 2024.

Kaliyah Williams made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

In other batting news, Audrie Florenzano was a standout: she scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Alison Smith was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

North Fort Myers' record now sits at 6-0. As for Ida Baker, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Ida Baker suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to North Fort Myers when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can Ida Baker avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
