Basketball Game Preview: North Valleys Panthers vs. Fernley Vaqueros

North Valleys is 1-8 against Fernley since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The North Valleys Panthers will head out to face off against the Fernley Vaqueros at 7:30 p.m. North Valleys is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60 points per game this season.

Last Friday, North Valleys really took it to Sparks for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-28 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-13.

It was another big night for Joshua Collins, who went 9 of 15 on his way to 20 points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadyn Shackelford, who went 5 for 8 en route to 13 points.

Collins wasn't the only one working in the assists department: North Valleys was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sparks only posted three assists.

Meanwhile, Fernley faced Dayton in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Fernley took a 51-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dayton.

The win made it two in a row for North Valleys and bumps their season record up to 12-4. As for Fernley, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.

North Valleys might still be hurting after the 63-40 loss they got from Fernley in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Thankfully for North Valleys, Anthony Winters (who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
