Basketball Recap: Jones County Comes Up Short

Jones County suffered their closest defeat since November 11, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of the Hampton Hornets by a score of 54-52. The Greyhounds were probably out for revenge after losing 46-44 to them when the teams met back in February of 2018, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Hampton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alando Richards, who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was C J Geiger, who had 14 points.

Jones County's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Hampton, they pushed their record up to 5-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Jones County and Hampton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. Jones County (ranked 345th) will meet Southwest (ranked 41st) at 7:30 p.m. on December 28th. Similarly, Hampton (ranked 293rd) will meet Eagle's Landing (ranked 80th) at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
