Basketball Recap: Clara Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tipton over Bartlett

It was a proper cat-fight when Tipton faced off against Bartlett on Friday. The Cardinals fell 67-54 to the Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 112th in Missouri, while the Panthers are ranked 25th in Tennessee).

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Clara Williams, who posted 20 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Williams is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 16 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Madison Carvajal, who earned 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Tipton now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Bartlett, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Tipton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-56 defeat against Logan-Rogersville on the 13th. As for Bartlett, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 62-32 loss against Staley on the 13th.
