Basketball Recap: Academy at the Lakes Takes a Loss

Academy at the Lakes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 63-36 loss at the hands of the Shorecrest Prep Chargers. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-12.

Nickolas Bearden was his usual excellent self, putting up 21 points for Shorecrest Prep. Another player making a difference was Wesley Ryan, who posted 14 points.

Academy at the Lakes' loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Shorecrest Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Academy at the Lakes will head out on the road to challenge Hernando at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Shorecrest Prep, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Calvary Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
