Football Game Preview: Simsbury Trojans vs. Glastonbury Guardians

The Simsbury Trojans will head out to square off against the Glastonbury Guardians at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Simsbury has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight losses, while Glastonbury will come in with three straight victories.

On Friday, Simsbury came up short against Bristol Central and fell 30-18. While the Trojans had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Rams 6-0.

Meanwhile, Glastonbury made easy work of South Windsor on Friday and carried off a 34-14 win.

Glastonbury's win came from a few key players Simsbury will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dante Casdia, who rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Finnerty, who threw for 116 yards and a pair of TDs.

Glastonbury's defense made their presence known, laying out Wyatt Prather three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Aidan Callahan, Isaiah Deleon, and Zac Rafferty, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Glastonbury's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Simsbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Simsbury ended up a good deal behind Glastonbury when the teams last played back in November of 2024, losing 28-10. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Casdia, who rushed for 142 yards and one score on only 13 carries, and also picked up 35 receiving yards.
