Basketball Recap: High Island Comes Up Short

High Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They had to suffer through a 53-18 loss at the hands of the Leggett Pirates. The Cardinals were down 39-15 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Leading Leggett to victory were Bianca Perkins and Tamera Henderson. Perkins almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards, while Henderson posted 18 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. That's the most boards Henderson has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Na'Ilah Jordan, who scored eight points and ten rebounds.

High Island's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Leggett, they pushed their record up to 15-15 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

When High Island and Leggett next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. High Island will square off against Brookeland and their eight-game winning streak at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Leggett will try to stop Chester's five-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
