Basketball Recap: Nitro Skates Past Lewis County with Ease

With a playoff win on the line, Nitro rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 62-34 win over the Lewis County Minutemen. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 20 points or more this season.

Nitro got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Karson Jones out in front who posted ten points and eight boards. Jones is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games she's played. Ava Edwards was another key player, shooting 56% from the field to rack up 12 points.

When it comes to explaining why Lewis County lost, don't look at Ella Pinkney. Despite the final result, she scored eight points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alexis Piggie, who had nine points and five boards.

The win (which was Nitro's fourth in a row) raised their record to 20-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.8 points. As for Lewis County, they moved to 15-9 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Nitro Wildcats face off against Grafton Bearcats at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Lewis County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
