Baseball Recap: St. Bernard's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

St. Bernard's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Windham Whippets by a score of 6-3. The victory was some much needed relief for the Saints as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Anthony Demarco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because St. Bernard is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Desmond Powers, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Kevin Poeschl was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
