George Jenkins has gone a perfect 4-0 against Plant City recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The George Jenkins Eagles will welcome the Plant City Raiders at 7:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.
George Jenkins will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against McKeel Academy on Thursday. Everything went George Jenkins' way against McKeel Academy as George Jenkins made off with an 11-1 victory. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
George Jenkins got a massive performance out of Mackenzie Mathers, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Mathers has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazlyn Duque, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
George Jenkins always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Plant City put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Armwood a 22-0 shutout. Fans of the Raiders have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Kayleigh Gibbs made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. She also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samantha Raines, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. She also put up two doubles, which were her first of the season. Summer Castro was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
The victory got George Jenkins back to even at 2-2. As for Plant City, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. George Jenkins has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Plant City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
