Baseball Recap: Casteel Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

Casteel won the last time they faced Wesleyan Christian Academy and things went their way on Saturday too. The Colts walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Trojans.

Caden Marriott looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Casteel let Baylor Denny and Ryne Barker run wild. Denny scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Barker scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Russell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Casteel has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Wesleyan Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-9.

Coming up, Casteel will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Perry at 3:45 p.m. The Colts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pumas have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Wesleyan Christian Academy, they will be taking part in a tournament against La Mirada at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
