Baseball Recap: Tri-Central Drops Highest Score of Season Against Sheridan

Tri-Central's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Sheridan Blackhawks by a score of 12-7. The Trojans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jake Cherry and Nate Cherry made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Cherry tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Nate struck out 11 batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At bat, Cherry went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Nate earned one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Tri-Central is 2-1 when Nate posts two or more runs, but 0-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Brody Arnold was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Logan Sargent was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Tri-Central moved to 2-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Sheridan, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Coming up, Tri-Central will face off against Wes-Del at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.14 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sheridan, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 4-3 win against Clinton Central on the 2nd.
