Mater Academy East Las Vegas hasn't had much luck against Boulder City recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Mater Academy East Las Vegas Knights will be playing at home against the Boulder City Eagles at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas' defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They breezed by Democracy Prep Agassi Campus to the tune of 28-0.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas relied on the efforts of Cheyanne Thornhill, who threw for 109 yards and two touchdowns, and Jasmine White, who rushed for 47 yards.

Meanwhile, Boulder City came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their game with ease, bagging a 53-0 win over the Dragons. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Boulder City's win came from a few key players Mater Academy East Las Vegas will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Makayla Nelson, who threw for 138 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 43 yards and two touchdowns. That's the most rushing touchdowns she has posted since back in December of 2024. Another back making a difference was Noelle Payne, who rushed for 85 yards and one touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Boulder City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 242 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 175 rushing yards in 12 consecutive contests.
Boulder City pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.2 points per game. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Wednesday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Thornhill and Nelson. Thornhill just won't slow down this season and has thrown 25 touchdowns while averaging 127.7 passing yards per game. Nelson has been a dominant force too and has thrown 26 touchdowns while averaging 98.6 passing yards per game.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas suffered a grim 32-6 defeat to Boulder City when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Mater Academy East Las Vegas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
