Baseball Recap: Mt. Enterprise Sets Scoring Season-High Against New Summerfield

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mt. Enterprise). Everything went their way against the New Summerfield Hornets on Tuesday as they made off with a 21-1 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Aaiden Alsup made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Aiden Rogers was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Nick Jones, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Mt. Enterprise always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .759. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mt. Enterprise is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for New Summerfield, they are on a 33-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-17.

Mt. Enterprise will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hornets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
