Basketball Game Preview: University School Buccaneers vs. Chuckey-Doak Black Knights

The University School Buccaneers are taking a road trip to challenge the Chuckey-Doak Black Knights at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. University School has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Friday, everything went University School's way against Unaka as University School made off with an 81-56 victory. The win continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Rangers: they've now won eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Chuckey-Doak was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by South Greene and fell 77-27. While losing is never fun, the Black Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while the Rebels are ranked 112th).

University School pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points over those games. As for Chuckey-Doak, their loss dropped their record down to 6-18.

University School was able to grind out a solid win over Chuckey-Doak when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 63-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for University School since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
