Game recap: McCurdy High School Football Team defeats Questa

ESPANOLA, N.M. - McCurdy (Espanola, N.M.) put an additional 14 points on the board on top of its 28-point lead going into the fourth quarter to beat out Questa (N.M.) 42-6.

After taking the lead on a Daniel Arroyo touchdown run in the first quarter, the Bobcats led 20-0 at the half.

McCurdy expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. MHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Eric Vigil to Santiago Lovato.

The Espanola school's most effective player was Vigil. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns.

The Wildcats' lone touchdown came on a run in the fourth quarter.

Questa came in giving up 15.0 points per game this season. The Bobcats had given up an average of 5.3 points prior to the contest.



Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 60-16 win for McCurdy.

The loss comes after Questa defeated Shiprock 22-18 last week. The loss snapped QHS's 3-game winning streak. With the win MHS extended its winning streak to four games.

McCurdy (7-1) goes up against Escalante in a 1A District 1 game matchup next week, while Questa (5-2) locks horns with Escalante also in a 1A District 1 game.
