Football Recap: Mt. Markham Takes a Loss

Mt. Markham extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sandy Creek Comets. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

As for Sandy Creek, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 21 points in those games.

Sandy Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hudson Hunt led the charge by rushing for 105 yards and one TD on only ten carries. Those 105 rushing yards gave Hunt a new career-high. Sandy Creek also got a significant boost from Adam Trudell, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 121 yards.

Mt. Markham wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 13-7 loss against Herkimer on the 4th. As for Sandy Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-20 defeat against Lowville on the 3rd.
