Softball Game Preview: Crawford County Wolfpack vs. Clarksville Generals

The Crawford County Wolfpack are taking a road trip to square off against the Clarksville Generals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Crawford County couldn't beat Mitchell on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Wolfpack fell 10-6 to the Bluejackets. The loss continues a trend for the Wolfpack in their meetings with the Bluejackets: they've now lost eight in a row.

Sylvia Ferriell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Marley Berg, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Clarksville fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Providence on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pioneers by a score of 6-5.

Maci Cummings was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Makayia Nash was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base.

Crawford County's record is now 1-7. As for Clarksville, their record now sits at 4-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Crawford County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Clarksville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Crawford County couldn't quite finish off Clarksville when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can the Wolfpack avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
