Basketball Recap: Emerald Comes Up Short

Emerald lost against Clinton two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Emerald Vikings lost to the Clinton Red Devils on the road by a 38-20 margin. The match marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Emerald saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jurnee Williams posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Williams is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played dating back to last season.

Kemaria Shelton was her usual excellent self, putting up ten points and six rebounds for Clinton. Another player making a difference was McKenzie Clark, who had nine points and seven rebounds.

Emerald now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Clinton, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Emerald didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 40-28 victory against Ninety Six on the 19th. As for Clinton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 44-22 win against Newberry on the 18th.
