Basketball Preview: Cahokia Comanches vs. Lanphier Lions
The Cahokia Comanches will head out on the road to take on the Lanphier Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cahokia is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 12-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Cahokia struggled with assists on Friday (the Rams had 13 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Cahokia was dealt a 61-27 loss at the hands of the Rams. While losing is never fun, Cahokia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 483rd, while the Rams are ranked 54th).
Cahokia's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Donald Collier, who scored seven points, and Corrion Raiford who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Lanphier's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight defeat. They fell just short of Lincoln by a score of 46-43. Lanphier has not had much luck with the Railsplitters recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Cahokia's loss dropped their record down to 1-22. As for Lanphier, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-14 record this season.
