The West Branch Warriors will face off against the Lakeview Sailors at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, West Branch made easy work of Williamsburg and carried off a 17-9 win.
Caleb Hudson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hudson was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Frank Leskovansky was a standout: he scored two runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Esposti, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
West Branch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Lakeview never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past Oil City 11-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sailors.
Like West Branch, Lakeview also got a great game from a two-way player: Owen Dye. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Dye a new career-low. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddox Bell, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Lucas Fagley was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Lakeview's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for West Branch, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
