Basketball Recap: Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by the Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors 65-25. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-20 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy lost, don't look at Caleb Whicker. Despite the final result, he posted nine points and six rebounds.

Ashawn Camp continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lake Lure Classical Academy, going 10 of 16 on his way to 27 points and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Camp has scored at least a third of Lake Lure Classical Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Nixon Vivolo, who went 6 for 14 en route to 14 points.

Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, they pushed their record up to 11-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy will welcome Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, they will host Christian Family Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake Lure Classical Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season.
