Baseball Game Preview: Pella Dutch vs. Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs

Pella is 1-9 against Dallas Center-Grimes since June of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Dutch will face off against the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Pella's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Dallas Center-Grimes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Pella is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Iowa's top teams: Indianola, who was ranked seventh at the time (Pella was ranked 13th). The Dutch took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians on Friday.

Meanwhile, Dallas Center-Grimes entered their tilt with Pella Christian on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Eagles 11-3. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.

Dallas Center-Grimes' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Pella, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-4.

Pella couldn't quite get it done against Dallas Center-Grimes in their previous matchup back in May as they fell 5-2. Can the Dutch avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
