Basketball Recap: Taravella Takes a Loss

Taravella lost against South Plantation back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Taravella Trojans took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Plantation Paladins. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Paladins are ranked 79th).

When it comes to explaining why Taravella lost, don't look at Nick Florea. Despite the final result, he went 10 for 16 en route to 26 points. Florea's morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Santana Henderson III, who posted ten points and five assists.

South Plantation was led to victory by Lathan Coleman and Travis Chin. Coleman dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards, while Chin went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points in addition to six assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave Chin a new career-high in assists. Marc Vincent was another key player, putting up eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Taravella's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for South Plantation, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taravella has already played their next match (against Stoneman Douglas), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. South Plantation has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Piper.
