Baseball Recap: Culleoka Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

Culleoka won against Cornersville last Monday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Culleoka beat Cornersville by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

Coltin Butler made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Butler wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Sartwell, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Ethan Gutierrez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Culleoka pushed their record up to 4-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Cornersville, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Culleoka didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-4 defeat against Collinwood on the 27th. As for Cornersville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 17-0 loss against Forrest on the 28th.
