Softball Game Preview: Sandusky Blue Streaks vs. Western Reserve Roughriders

Sandusky is a perfect 3-0 against Western Reserve since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Blue Streaks will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Roughriders at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Sandusky fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Port Clinton on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Redskins by a score of 5-4. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Streaks in their meetings with the Redskins: they've now lost four in a row.

Kaylee Summers spent all 9.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Amari Prentice was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two triples and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Akiyla Jones, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Western Reserve's offense. They came up short against Wellington on Tuesday, falling 10-0. The Roughriders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sandusky's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Western Reserve, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Everything went Sandusky's way against Western Reserve in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Sandusky made off with a 10-2 victory. Will the Blue Streaks repeat their success, or do the Roughriders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
