Basketball Recap: Belleview Rattlers vs. Lake Weir Hurricanes
Belleview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 67-32 defeat at the hands of the Lake Weir Hurricanes. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Rattlers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 39-31 last Thursday.
Belleview's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malik Cauthen, who posted ten points. Ches Simmons was another key player, putting up nine points.
Lake Weir's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brandon Smith Jr, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 10 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Amar Young, who went 6 for 8 en route to 15 points.
Belleview's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Lake Weir, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.
Belleview didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-34 victory against Seven Rivers Christian on the 27th. Lake Weir has also already played their next game, a 51-49 loss against South Sumter on the 28th.
