Baseball Game Preview: Acalanes Dons vs. Liberty Lions

The Acalanes Dons are taking a road trip to challenge the Liberty Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Acalanes will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Acalanes is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over Miramonte on Tuesday.

Austin McMannamon looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, Keegan Goddard and Drew Asadorian did most of the damage at the plate: Goddard went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while Asadorian scored two runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, Goddard posted two runs, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of David Gonzales, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Acalanes hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Liberty came up short against Tracy on Saturday, falling 7-1.

Liberty saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trace Hoover, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI. That RBI was Hoover's first of the season.

Acalanes pushed their record up to 6-1-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
