Basketball Game Preview: The Hawbridge School Herons vs. Excelsior Classical Academy Flying Lions

The Hawbridge School Herons will venture away from home to take on the Excelsior Classical Academy Flying Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

The Hawbridge School is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight games dating back to last season on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Commission Leadership Academy and fell 66-39. The Herons were down 46-25 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

The Hawbridge School might have lost, but man, Noah Snyder was a machine: he posted 30 points.

Meanwhile, Excelsior Classical Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They received a blow on Thursday as they fell 74-56 to Durham School of the Arts.

The Hawbridge School will have to contain Tyler Hill as he made an impact in Excelsior Classical Academy's last game. He dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 boards. Hill is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Jason Maldonado, who shot 63% from the field on his way to 10 points and five rebounds.

The Hawbridge School was dealt a bruising 60-18 loss at the hands of Excelsior Classical Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Thankfully for the Herons, Hunter Goss (who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 13 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
