Football Recap: Ray Skates Past Ingleside with Ease

Ray waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They breezed past the Ingleside Mustangs to the tune of 54-0. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Texans just coasted through the last quarter.

Ray was led to victory by Brian McCullum and Tripp Thompson. McCullum rushed for 251 yards and three scores on only 14 carries, while Thompson rushed for 119 yards and three TDs. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Thompson a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Ray was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 448 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive contests.

Ray now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Ingleside, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Ray and Ingleside could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Texans (ranked 804th) will meet Gregory-Portland (ranked 217th) at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. Meanwhile, Ingleside will square off against Brownwood at 7:00 p.m. on October 3 with a big rank disadvantage (907 vs. 233).
