Basketball Recap: Rincon/University Takes a Loss

Rincon/University lost against Sahuaro back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Rangers had to suffer through a 60-30 loss at the hands of the Cougars. The contest marked the Rangers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Anissa Garcia had an outrageously good game for Sahuaro as she went 9-for-19 to rack up 19 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Those 19 points gave Garcia a new career-high. Layla O'Rourke-Slone was another key player, putting up five points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Rincon/University has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Sahuaro, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Rincon/University will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Queen Creek at 6:00 p.m. on December 5. As for Sahuaro, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Walden Grove at 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday.
