Southern Lakes recap Sept. 26, 2012
Waterford extended the longest winning streak in Southern Lakes this week by beating Westosha Central, 27-0. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Wolverines.
Burlington was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to third in the league. The Demons defeated Delavan-Darien 55-21 earlier in the week.
Wilmot's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Noah Strasser threw for 140 and one touchdown and Matt Christensen had 102 yards receiving. On the ground Bennett Kothe chipped in 84 yards. Erik Nevoso helped Wilmot's passing attack out by catching two balls for 42 yards.
Wilmot's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Strasser has thrown for 708 yards and eight touchdowns this season, while Christensen has 20 catches for 379 yards. Kothe leads the league in rushing with 259 yards.
A big matchup in Southern Lakes this week will be when Elkhorn takes on Badger. The Elks are in fifth place, while the Badgers are in second place.
Burlington moved up to 99 from 161 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Hans Block's team climbed the ranks as a result of a 55-21 win over the Comets.
