Smith-Cotton entered their tilt with Lone Jack on Saturday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Mules by a score of 5-1.

Jakobe Linn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Smith-Cotton's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Talon Newell, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Newell a new career-high. Another was Kaden Wiskur, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Smith-Cotton pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Lone Jack, their loss dropped their record down to 10-2.
