Soccer Recap: Marist Takes a Loss

Marist lost against Benet Academy back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The RedHawks came up short against the Redwings, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, Marist can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Benet Academy are ranked 42nd).

Marist's loss dropped their record down to 10-8-2. As for Benet Academy, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-6-2.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Marist will look to defend their home pitch on Tuesday against Blue Island Eisenhower at 6:30 p.m. Marist's defense better be ready for this one: Blue Island Eisenhower have averaged an impressive 2.6 goals per game this season. As for Benet Academy, they will take on Plainfield Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Plainfield Central will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Benet Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
