Basketball Game Preview: Dirigo Cougars vs. Maranacook Black Bears

The Dirigo Cougars will head out to face off against the Maranacook Black Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Dirigo is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

On Saturday, Dirigo came up short against St. Dominic and fell 57-47. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly ten points.

Meanwhile, Maranacook rang in the new year with a 50-40 win over Madison on Thursday.

Maranacook has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Dirigo, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-5.

Dirigo might still be hurting after the 83-62 defeat they got from Maranacook in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Dirigo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
