Softball Recap: Jefferson Eagles vs. Waterloo Pirates
While Jefferson's victory against Waterloo wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Pirates 4-3. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Pirates on Tuesday, too.
Aeryn Messmann made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Messmann wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ashlyn Enke, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Jefferson's record now sits at 15-3. As for Waterloo, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-9.
Looking ahead, Jefferson will face off against Brodhead at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Waterloo, they will be playing at home against Lake Mills at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
