Meanwhile, College Prep & Leadership Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 20-14 to Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy. While the Royals had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Phoenix 6-0.

College Prep & Leadership Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Bishop McGuinness, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
