Preview: El Primero Lobos vs. East Palo Alto Academy Bulldogs

After two games on the road, El Primero is heading back home. They will take on the East Palo Alto Academy Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully El Primero focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Monday.

Last Monday, El Primero was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 54-48 to DCP Alum Rock.

The match pitted two key players against one another: JOSH CHAVEZ and Tony Clarida. Clarida had a great game and scored 28 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Meanwhile, CHAVEZ was balling out in the loss, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, East Palo Alto Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 70-63 win over Mountain View Academy. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win East Palo Alto Academy has managed all season.

El Primero has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for East Palo Alto Academy, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.

El Primero won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, slipping by East Palo Alto Academy 52-51. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was East Palo Alto Academy's Jose Medrano Gutierrez, who scored 33 points. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for El Primero to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
