Volleyball Recap: Patton Takes a Loss

If Patton was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Freedom on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers fell 3-1 to the South Caldwell Spartans on Wednesday. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Spartans since Wednesday.

Patton was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made South Caldwell work for it, especially in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 24-26, 25-21, 26-24.

Hannah Huggins paced Patton's offense, picking up 17 kills. Huggins got some help from Soraya Hartman and her 22 assists. Emma Griffin controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Patton's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for South Caldwell, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Patton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 win against University Christian on the 15th. As for South Caldwell, they will head out to take on Draughn at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
