Volleyball Recap: Patton Takes a Loss

If Patton was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Freedom on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Caldwell Spartans on Wednesday. The Panthers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in August of 2023.

Patton was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made South Caldwell work for it, especially in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 24-26, 25-21, 26-24.

Hannah Huggins paced Patton's offense, picking up 17 kills. Huggins got some help from Soraya Hartman and her 22 assists. Emma Griffin controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Patton's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for South Caldwell, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Patton will challenge University Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Caldwell, they will head out to take on Draughn at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
