Basketball Game Preview: Columbus North Bull Dogs vs. Columbus East Olympians

Two dominant guards in Caleb Ferguson and Keaton Lawson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Columbus North Bull Dogs will square off against the Columbus East Olympians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbus North will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.

Last Thursday, Columbus North beat Center Grove 53-41. Given the Bull Dogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Trojans are ranked 92nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Columbus East hadn't done well against Greensburg recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Columbus East took their game with ease, bagging a 72-36 win over Greensburg. That 36 point margin sets a new team best for the Olympians this season.

Columbus North better keep an eye on Lawson. He was instrumental in Columbus East's win, going 8-for-13 en route to 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. The match was Lawson's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Mason Reeves, who posted nine points and five steals.

Columbus East's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-9. As for Columbus North, they pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Columbus North strolled past Columbus East in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 59-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Columbus North since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
