Recap: South Dade Buccaneers vs. Coral Reef Barracudas
The South Dade Buccaneers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 52-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Coral Reef. South Dade lost against Coral Reef in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 32-25 score last time.
Despite the loss, South Dade saw an underclassman step up: Genesis Aguilar scored 19 points. Lapatra Warren was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
South Dade bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Coral Reef, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
South Dade will play host again and welcome Southridge, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Southridge is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Coral Reef's road trip will continue as they head out to face Varela at 5:00 p.m. on December 18th. Varela's defense has only allowed 24.9 points per game this season, so Coral Reef's offense will have their work cut out for Coral Reef.
