Basketball Recap: Clearfield Comes Up Short

Clearfield and Spanish Fork squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Clearfield had to settle for second. They fell 66-58 to the Spanish Fork Dons.

When it comes to explaining why Clearfield lost, don't look at Isabelle Wyaskett. Despite the final result, she went 9-for-20 en route to 25 points and four steals. Wyaskett is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 16 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Xiyah Yarbrough, who posted ten points.

Even though they lost, Clearfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Clearfield's defeat dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Spanish Fork, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-20.

Clearfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Spanish Fork, they will challenge Bountiful at 4:10 p.m. on Tuesday. Bountiful will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something Spanish Fork surely won't give up without a fight.
