Football Recap: East Longmeadow Falls Despite Big Games from Kevin Baker and Brandon Phillips Jr

East Longmeadow made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Tantasqua Regional, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Spartans fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 17-14 on Friday. The Spartans have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Brandon Phillips Jr and Kevin Baker certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Phillips Jr rushed for 158 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, while Baker rushed for 78 yards and one score.

East Longmeadow now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Tantasqua Regional, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

East Longmeadow will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Longmeadow at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Tantasqua Regional, they will take on Grafton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
