Basketball Recap: Thomas Stone Comes Up Short

Thomas Stone lost against Westlake back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Thomas Stone Cougars fell to the Westlake Wolverines 38-34. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Thomas Stone saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Malaiyah Johnson posted eight points and 12 boards. Johnson has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played.

Thomas Stone's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Westlake, their victory bumped their record up to 7-13.

Thomas Stone didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-44 defeat against Glen Burnie on the 22nd. As for Westlake, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Patuxent at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Westlake is facing Patuxent at the right time seeing as Patuxent is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
