The Interboro Buccaneers will square off against the Ridley Raiders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Interboro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Interboro came up short against Chichester and fell 8-3.
Interboro saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Dean, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Ridley gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They skirted past Conestoga 4-2. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Pioneers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Luke Ladislaw made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Ladislaw was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.
In other batting news, Bobby Doherty was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Logan Bubb also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Ridley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Conestoga only managed five hits.
Ridley's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Interboro, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Interboro has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ridley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Interboro couldn't quite get it done against Ridley in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 as they fell 8-3. Can Interboro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
